Somalia’s debt relief enacted

There is a debt relief of 4.5billion US dollars carried out in Somalia. Such an action is carried out  as a result of inter-governmental efforts between local government and international financial institutions that has been going on in the last ten years. The executive Boards of the International Development Association (IDA) an association under the international monetary fund (IMF) that operates in poorest countries confirmed that Somalia’s debt was brought down through their program (HIPC) commonly known as Heavily indebted Poor countries.

The debt reduction is often reached when the country involved has  fulfilled the necessary programs of improving lives and reduction of poverty through poverty eradication programs. Despite all the efforts, Somalia is still battling with effects of the Elnino, many are displaced because of heavy rainfall.  We hope that the debt relief will give the country space to plan in advance for uncertainities.

Where are the rich Africans?

Ten richest cities in Africa have ben published by Investment migration consultancy Henley and Partners. The ranking was done together with the New World Wealth.

The report was based on private wealth and investiments of individuals  in these cities.

Johannesburg ranks on the top as one of the cities in Africa, habitating the wealthier Afriscans. Johannesburg is a headquarter to many major Africa banks.

Cairo with its history and location is in habitated by major founders pf telecommunications companies, retail traders and tourism. Further Cape town follows, the most loved place to live by many weathier individuals. A place where real estate and fund management dominates.

Lagos with its rich neighbourhoods as Ikoyi and the Victoria island, comes next in the fourth position. This fourth position is because in these areas, the economy centres at gas, oil, transportation and financial services. Nairobi with its  industries, financial services, real estate, tourism , media, textile and food processing follows in the fifth position.

South Africa, surprised us with another city on the row, Durban in the sixth position and Pretoria in the 8th position. Casablanca in the 7 position, Accra in the 9 position and Luanda in the tenth position.

I believe that there still many cities left behind which could collide on different positions. Think of Dar e Salam, Kigali, Abuja. These cities inhabits also many rich residents. But they might have investiments in other cities.
